About Arnie & Golden Hands

About Me

Arnie Katz, owner of Golden Hands Massage Therapy

I have been dedicated to serving the health and well-being of people through professional caring touch for over 30 years. Being 1lb. 14oz at birth myself, I spent the first two months of life in an isolette hardly being touched. I believe that this subconsciously made me keenly aware of the importance of and the need for touch for survival, for life, and for thriving. Touch is a vital and primary language of communication for me. I thoroughly enjoy touching people and working with the body to help affect relaxation and change.

My clients and workshop participants have included people of all ages, backgrounds, professions, and from all walks and stages of life: stressed working professionals, athletes, teachers, students, doctors, nurses, health care workers, lawyers, IT professionals, physical therapists, families and their pets, artists, actors, dancers, performers, the terminally ill, the recovering well, and the newly born.

In addition to my work in private practice and on-site (chair) massage, I have also had professional affiliations with a local chiropractor's office, several of Boston's finest hotels (The Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, The Marriott Courtyard Copley, and Fairmont Copley Plaza), fitness centers, The Massachusetts Sports Massage Team and New England Triathlon Series events, The Boston Marathon Sports Massage Team, The Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (N.I.C.U.) at Brigham & Women's Hospital, Fenway Health Center, The Hospice at Mission Hill, The Boston Living Center, On Point Acupuncture and Wellness Center, and South End Health Associates.

Story of Golden Hands

Why do I call myself “Golden Hands”? Many years ago, my mom shared a story with me about my grandfather. While she was growing up, her father, my dear Grandpa Julius, would comment whenever he noticed someone with a special way about them, and how it seemed that everything they touched turned to gold. He would tell her that they had Goldene Hendt — Golden Hands. When she said that I too had “Goldene Hendt”, it touched me deeply. A few years later, I gave a massage to a very special woman visiting the states from Argentina. Even though she spoke little English, it was very clear to me how much she loved her massage session. Her exact words: “Tú tiénes manos de oro” (Hands of Gold)!!! It was confirmation! It gave me goosebumps, and I knew I had to use that name. Hence, Golden Hands Massage Therapy was born! Then, over this last decade, as my awareness and work have continued to evolve and expand even more, it became clear to me that my talents extended way beyond just giving a basic massage. I offer a wider range of services to assist people in their healing and relaxation. So, I changed the name of my practice to Golden Hands Healing Therapies.
